Stob Dubh is the taller of the two of the two munros and offers great views of Loch Etive and the nearby peaks of Glencoe. The mountains of Glen Coe are steep and rocky. The trails can get slippery and muddy when wet and suitable footwear is advised. In winter, this route becomes a very different proposition.

Buachaille Etive Beag is the smaller of the two Sheperds of Etive, appearing quite rugged from Glencoe. Stob Coire Raineach is the most northerly of two Munros on this mountain. Prior to 1997, Buachaille Etive Beag had only one Munro summit, Stob Dubh, and the main route headed up from Glen Etive, climbing direct and steeply from Dalness.

Along the hike you'll conquer Stob Coire Raineach (Munro number 1), then traverse a spacious ridge with incredible views to the crown of Glencoe, the most spectacular mountains in the area, only to climb the other Munro, Stob Dubh, located at the other end of the ridge and overlooking Glen Etive.

Stob Corie Raineach is the lower of two Munro summits on the Buachaille Etive Beag. It's a fine peak that stands proud above the A82 into Glen Coe. The fastest ascent route starts from the car park at the head of Lairig Eilde, while it can also be ascended from Altnafeadh.

October 8, 2022 SCOTLAND WALKS. This Buchaille Etive Beag walk is just over 5 miles and involves a steep climb up to the twin summits of Stob Coire Raineach and Stob Dubh. With spectacular views on a clear day down both Glen Coe and Glen Etive, as well as over to Ben Nevis, this is a great walk which bags 2 of the "easiest" Munros in Glencoe.
