Apr 6, 2021. #1. Got a new camera, a Minolta x500 with a 35mm f2.8, the lens I had left over from my previous x700 (which I sold) and my SRT graveyard. I like the handling a lot so far, about a year ago I shot a bit with the x700 but did not like it at all, and sold it shortly after. I have some rolls ready for tomorrow, can't wait!!!!

The X-500 is a manual focus 35mm film SLR camera by Minolta. It was also sold as the X-570. It accepts Minolta SR mount type lenses. It has quartz timed horizontally traveling electronic focal plane shutter with speeds from 4s to 1/1000 with B. Flash sync is at 1/60 a sec. usable with the hot shoe as well as the X sync PC terminal connector.

The X-500 (X-570) is arguably the best 35mm SLR ever made by Minolta (next to the X-700), and 60 is a great price for it even if it's not in great condition. As long as everything works, go for that. Assuming film stays alive for awhile, I think the X-500 is a model that will see a fair amount of appreciation as cameras like consumer grade.

The X500 has a different top plate layout, on the left is the film rewind handle, in its base is the ISO dial not very visible and alongside this is the on/off switch.
