Option 1: Take the Gornergrat Bahn The most popular way to see the Matterhorn in Zermatt is to take the train up to the Gornergrat Bhan. Trains run every 30 minutes and a spectacularly busy, to get some great views make sure you sit on the right-hand side of the train.

The ride takes 33 minutes and requires a vertical climb of 1,469 m. Here is a large Matterhorn Terminal parking lot near the train station. It cost 15,50CHF to park there for the day. From Täsch, shuttle trains run every 20 minutes and the journey takes 12 minutes. Return tickets cost CHF 16.40/adult, CHF 8.20/child, Swiss Travel Pass holders travel for free, Half-fare and Junior cards are accepted.
