The Amcar scene has been around in Norway since at least the late 60's. Amcar magazine was launched in 1975 and the subculture has been going strong ever since, with some cars having been originally imported back then and others having been imported more recently.

According to Wikipedia, "The club was founded in 1975 and currently has 98 affiliated local clubs, 15 national teams, and about 17,000 members nationwide.". the group also boasts the publication of a magazine geared for their interests. They have even been instrumental in creating.

AMCAR Lillestrøm decided to put together a centennial tour in 2013, with the ambition of bringing over 100 classic cars from mainly the Scandinavian countries. "Today the tour has 84 confirmed cars signed up and the goal of 100 seems within reach. The tour will start from New York City's Times Square on July 1, 2013, 100 years to the day.

American Car Club of Norway (ACCN) er en organisasjon for amcar-interesserte. Foreningen har over 90 tilsluttede lokalklubber og mer enn 16 500 medlemmer på landsbasis.. I 1978 banet ACCN veien for amerikansk bilsport i Norge, og i Fyresdal samme år kunne over 20 000 publikummere bivåne dragracing for første gang. ACCNs engasjement innen.

AMCAR har siden 1975 jobbet målrettet mot det politiske Norge for å beholde og forbedre vilkårene til den norske bilhobbyen. Som høringsinstans for Vegdirektoratet, Samferdselsdepartementet, Finansdepartementet og Tolldirektoratet er AMCAR bilhobbyens fremste politiske forkjemper i Norge.

The reason for the ban, according to AMCAR, was that "cars on display in the park don't harmonize" with the Greens- and Labour Party-led Oslo city government's "green profile," and that it would "send the wrong signal" to allow the exhibition. The ban was issued by the city agency in charge of parks and recreation, Bymiljøetaten.
