La stazione di partenza della cabinovia si trova a Marciana, a pochi metri dal centro del paese a 375 metri s.l.m., immersa nel verde tra grandi castagni.L'impianto è stato realizzato negli anni sessanta e offre tutti i maggiori standard di sicurezza. È caratterizzato da cabine gialle "a cestello" aperte, che in circa 18 minuti permettono di raggiungere il Monte Capanne.
