2000 Suzuki TL 1000 S
Suzuki were already dabbling with a twin in the form of the TL1000S. It's safe to say that the S didn't leave a very lasting impression on many enthusiasts. While the engine was great, the handling really let the bike down. Second generation S's came with a steering damper as standard which was a partial improvement, but didn't fix the problem.
1998 Suzuki TL 1000 R
The Suzuki TL1000R motorcycle was introduced in 1998 as Suzuki's 90° V-Twin Superbike. Production ended in 2003. General background The TL1000R is a full fairing racing-oriented version of Suzuki's popular TL1000S. The TL1000R was launched in 1998, one year after its sibling, the TL1000S.

1997 Suzuki TL 1000 S
The Suzuki TL1000S was introduced by Suzuki in 1997 and was produced until 2001 and is frequently referred to as the TLS or Suzuki TLS. It is notable for the 90° V-twin engine which is still used in Suzuki's modern SV1000 and V-Strom 1000 motorcycles.

The Suzuki TL1000's engine has lived on past the TL1000S and TL1000R. First, Suzuki used a mid-tune version of the Suzuki TL1000S's engine in the Suzuki SV1000. The SV1000 was a bit of a confusing bike for Suzuki, in that it was a mid-spec sport bike not clearly intended for either the track or the street.

The TL1000S, or 'widow-maker' as it was very quickly dubbed, was a brand new concept for Suzuki. Seeing the popularity of models such as the Monster, and with V-twins the 1990s must-have engine thanks to Ducati's WSB domination, Suzuki decided to build their own version of a sporty naked V-twin.
