The Waalweg Schenna leads through mixed forests and orchards from Verdins to the Naif valley. The starting point is Verdins, a small village above the entrance to the Passeiertal, which is easily accessible from Schenna. From Verdinser town center, it goes up the Schennaberg, slightly uphill to a crossroads, then it goes gently downhill.

In Schenna (640 m) first follow the signs "Zum Waal" between houses and through orchards up to the Moareben inn and on to the Pichler inn on the road of the same name (827 m; from Schenna just under 0:45 hrs.); here turn right and head south along the Waalweg (signposted), descending once over the aforementioned "Katzenleiter" (cat's ladder), a long flight of stone steps, and a little later.

Passing Verdins Church, the path climbs up to the Verdinser / Schenner Waalweg trail. This lovely, extremely shady path leads northwards through the forest to the irrigation channel keepers' hut. The return journey starts once again on the Waalweg to Hasenegg. After 300 meters turn right on the Wiesersteig trail towards Verdins.
