The history of Panzer Kaserne, formerly known as Ludendorff Kaserne, and its local training area goes back to 1938, when the "Panzer Regiment 8," or 8th Tank Regiment of the "Wehrmacht" (German armed forces) arrived in Böblingen on April 9. The regiment was previously headquartered in Wünsdorf Zossen, Brandenburg.

Panzer Kaserne (or Camp Panzer Kaserne [1] ), is a U.S. military installation in Böblingen, Germany, part of U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart. [2] The post is administered by U.S. Army Installation Management Command -Europe (IMCOM-Europe), a legacy from its use as an Army installation since just after World War II.

This time the Squadron did not establish headquarters with the Constabulary unit but moved to Panzer Kaserne, Boeblingen, Germany, five miles from Patch. The Squadron's signal equipment was set up of Patch, however. Within six days after the move, a multi-position manual switchboard and several VHF and HF radio nets were in operation.

Panzer Kaserne, located in Böblingen, has the garrison headquarters where most of the in-and-out-processing customer service is done. It is home to the Stuttgart and Patch Elementary Schools.

The Panzer Range Complex is located near Panzer Kaserne, which is nestled between the cities of Böblingen and Schönaich near Stuttgart. The installation includes several 25-meter and 300-meter known-distance ranges. The U.S. Army operates the range to train local service members from all branches of the military in a wide variety of skills.

The revolts started in the southwest corner of present day Germany and spread across Central Europe in mostly German speaking regions.

What became of the two GI's from the 97th Signal Bn who, in 1962, went AWOL/Deserted traveling all over Southern Europe and North Africa raising havoc as they went about their travels. Eventually returning to the woods near Boeblingen/Panzer Kasserne where they set up camp in Army tents and began breaking into Arms rooms in the Stuttgart area.
