Gold Creek Reservoir Walk A Gem in Brisbane’s West
The bushland around Gold Creek Dam is part of Brisbane Forest Park and contains plants and wildlife of regional biodiversity significance. It contains platypus and native fish species in the reservoir. John Henderson for the Brisbane Board of Waterworks designed the Gold Creek Dam. It was built in 1886 to increase water supply for Brisbane.

Gold Creek Dam was originally built in 1885 to supplement Enoggera Dam. Water from Gold Creek Dam was supplied to Brisbane via gravity main to Kenmore until 1919. In 1928 a tunnel was constructed from Gold Creek to Enoggera Creek and the two reservoirs are now operated as a single connected storage.

I did the 5.5km Gold Creek Reservoir Circuit which takes you around the dam through some secluded forest with the sound of bellbirds & other bird calls all around you. I went in an anti clockwise direction which involved walking across the dam wall/spillway to hook onto the track.
